At the beginning of 2008, Swedish Medical Center contacted Parker Staffing to act as the sole staffing provider for their Epic back-fill project. Swedish had a go-live date of May 30, 2008 for their Epic EMR project and would have many people absent from their normal roles for in-depth super-user training. They asked Parker to fill over 30 positions with experienced contractors. All the positions were successfully filled beginning with the first week of February and continuing through mid April. In addition to meeting the needs of the project by providing the crucial back-up staff to complete the implementation on schedule, the contractors also benefited. Eighteen of the contractors assigned to the project were hired on permanently by Swedish, and all the contractors received Epic training that they could take as a vital skill to other positions.
